What an incredible week Brock and I have had. The luxury experience of touring through Ottawa for 3 days on a perfect Fall Vacation by renting The Ottawa Limousine Company Service to take our breath away.
Now, it’s no surprise that this was a beautiful touring experience for our visit to Ottawa! Was kind of nice to break up our usual fishing trips with a 5 star getaway complete with hotel stays and amazing chef prepared cuisine. I don’t always grab about trips especially on our site but gosh I want everyone to go.
For a little background for people that aren’t familiar with Ontario. Ottawa is Canada’s capital although I often feel like it should be Toronto. They only have about 950,000 population but there a pro NHL team tere called the Ottawa Senators. Kind of far from downtown but a great thing to have especially if you’re raising kids like us. The architecture we saw was some of the most beautiful places i’ve seen in my travels through Canada. Here’s a picture of some of the buildings, museums and of course Parliament Building that our chauffeured limo service provided.
Our first stop was at the Canadian museum of Nature. What a wild place this is. There is a ginormous T-rex skeleton and a stuffed taxidermy version of nearly every Canadian wildlife species. You feel like you’ve seen the entire countries wilderness after being through the place. Did I mention the fish OMG the FISH!! haha I had to talk about fishing as I may be a tourist to the are but I belong on a boat but occasionally am well suited to a Limousine. I think they said The Nature museum in Ottawa was 10 million square feet of exhibits. We had a pairing with a group so we saved on their 15 person rate. A Lot of the members of our travel group were there for Ottawa’s Internaitonal Writer’s festival. Which, now that I think about it, probably inspired me to write a new blog post!
So the first day we enjoyed the museum and ended up down in Byward Market at a bar called The Warehouse. Pretty young crowd and awesome rooftop patio. I just wish it was a bit warmer.
The next way we just had to go to The Parliament Buildings. It’s literally unreal! There was tragedy there is year with Nathan Corillo being shot and killed so it was a bit disturbing seeing the RCMP guys standing at the same place she was attacked. None the less it was a great time to be there. All the maple tree’s were changing colours. Our limousine driver, Justin, was great, you wouldn’t believe the deal that he gave us on not only the stretch lincoln town car limousine but we also ended up joining another group that rented a party bus.
After Parliament Hill we made our way to Sparks Street Village and stopped at a few of the shop along the way. It was an incredible stone street that was gushing with culture. Being as I am Irish I always need to go to the BESt Irish pub in town. According to our limo driver the best Irish Pub in Ottawa is a little place called Patty Boland’s. The staff there seamed like they were a little slice of heaven. Quite happy to serve Brock and I a pint before we departed.
Next it was my turn to force Brock into my kind of vacation! A stop at the Holtz spa. HE cringed his way through a massage while I thoroughly enjoyed every last second of my half intoxicated spa experience.
BY this time I was half in the bag and drooling over a chocolate peanut butter pastry dessert. What do you think I felt like doing next!? Nap? Yup, we went back to our place on Elgin Street for a quick snooze. Then I had the bright idea! Quebec is right next door, why won’t we hire our limo guy again to take us over to Casino du Lac-Leamy.
That place isn’t seemingly that popular as there weren’t many people inside. But wow was it a nice spot. I played some blackjack and Brock won a few bucks on roulette. Super fun way to coast into the evening. We were so happy with that Casino…well they did lose some money to us after all, so we stuck around a watch dome live stand up Comedy at the theatre that was attached. Quite a memorable time and I can’t wait to head to back to Ottawa again and rent a limousine for our next Vacation in Ontario.
